Fan accounts and the site
Terms of Use
The rules of your account: voting, predicting, scoring rounds, appearing in the leaderboard; and those of the whole site, odds included. Reading the site stays free, with no account and nothing to accept.
14
Or older
One account per person, with an email address of your own.
12 p.m.
On fight day
Vote and prediction close together, local time at the venue. You can change them until then.
40
Points at most, no prize
No prize, no money, no bet. Points make your rank.
7 days
To change your mind
A deleted account is erased after 7 days; you can cancel until then.
What these terms cover
They apply to fan accounts: your account, your “who wins” votes, your predictions, the live scorecard, the predictors' leaderboard and the emails you receive. Rankings, profiles and fights can be read freely, with no account.
By creating your account, you accept these terms. What we do with your information is in the Privacy Policy; the site's cookies, on the Cookies page.
Rankings, results and odds are collected automatically and can contain errors: the official publication prevails. FightAnnex publishes them for information, without warranty, and is not responsible for a decision made on their basis, to the extent the law allows.
Your account
Who can open one
- Be 14 or older: a box to tick when signing up, with no date of birth.
- One account per person.
- An email address of your own: it receives your 6-digit sign-in code, valid for 10 minutes and 5 tries. No password; a passkey if you like.
Your nickname and your avatar
Your nickname represents you on the site. It cannot:
- take another person's name (a boxer, a journalist, another member)
- insult, threaten or target anyone
- advertise or contain a link
The team can change it, with a reason: you are told, and you find it in your history. Your avatar: one of FightAnnex's 8 avatars, or your initial. No images uploaded by fans.
Voting and predicting
- Vote: who wins. One vote per fight; you need an account.
- Predict: the winner (required), the method (inside the distance, on points or a draw) and, if inside the distance, the exact round: a single round, never a range.
- A single close: vote and prediction close together, on fight day at 12 p.m., local time at the venue, or earlier at the first bell. Until then, you change them as often as you like.
- Never without a click on the site: an email link brings you to the fight; you confirm, on the page.
- Fan percentages show after your vote; under 20 votes: “Still too few votes for a percentage”.
The scoring
| What you got right | Points |
|---|---|
| The winner | 10 |
| The method | +10 |
| The exact round | +15 |
| Upset: your winner had under 30% of the votes at the close | +5 |
| Maximum | 40 |
| A draw correctly predicted | 25 |
| Fight cancelled or no decision: your streak continues | 0 |
Points are worked out when the team confirms the official result. A later correction is made by a points adjustment: an email tells you. Your streak is the number of winners you got right in a row: a badge, not points.
Points with no prize
Points only serve your rank: no prize, no money, nothing to win or lose. Nothing is wagered on FightAnnex: fan accounts show no odds, and their emails never mention any.
Odds and betting
The English pages show odds collected from betting operators (The Odds API), for information: FightAnnex takes no bets and does not guarantee they are up to date.
Betting-related content is for adults only, as defined by the law where you are, and betting is only allowed where it is legal: 19 in most Canadian provinces (18 in Quebec, Alberta and Manitoba), 21 in most US states (18 in a few). In Quebec, the only legal betting operator is Loto-Québec (Mise-o-jeu).
Play responsibly. These lines answer day and night, free of charge:
- Quebec: Gambling: Help and Referral, 1-800-461-0140
- Ontario: ConnexOntario, 1-866-531-2600
- United States: 1-800-GAMBLER
Elsewhere in Canada, every province has its own help service.
The site contains no affiliate link to a betting operator, and earns nothing from the operators whose odds it shows.
The live scorecard
On fight day, when the team opens the live scorecard, you score each round once; your score can be changed for 60 seconds, then it is locked. The live scorecard earns no points: it lets you compare yourself with the judges. If the live scorecard is paused, scores already given are kept.
The predictors' leaderboard
- You only appear if you chose to: “Appear in the leaderboard” is off by default. You always see your own rank.
- You need an account 7 days old and 5 settled predictions; before that: “Not ranked yet: N more predictions”.
- By season (the calendar year), by month, all time, and by weight class.
- The team can exclude a member from a leaderboard, with a reason.
What the team can correct
Always with a reason, which you find in your history. Every change is logged.
- Your points: an adjustment, up or down.
- Your nickname and your avatar.
- Your address: an email goes to the old one and the new one.
- Your language and your status (active, suspended).
- A vote or a prediction recorded by mistake: the reason is shown to you and percentages are recalculated.
Never: your consents or your passkeys. Only you.
Suspension
The team can suspend an account that cheats (several accounts, rigged votes), whose nickname is abusive, or that attacks other fans.
While suspended, you can no longer vote, predict, score or write. You can still read the site, download your data or delete your account. You are told, with the reason. The suspension can be lifted; to challenge it, Contact us.
Deleting your account
Whenever you like, in Settings, after a code or a passkey less than 10 minutes old.
Straight away
Your account is deactivated: signed out everywhere, invisible.
For 7 days
The link in the “account deleted” email cancels it.
After 7 days
Erased for good: address, nickname, passkeys, follows.
Your votes and predictions stay, without a name: published percentages don't move. Your messages to support are kept without a name for 12 months. You can create a new account with the same address.
Your language and your emails
Your favourite language, French or English, offered when signing up and changeable in Settings, sets the language of every email and of the site when you sign in. These terms exist in both languages; if they differ, the French version prevails.
Service emails
No box to tick, the reason is given in their footer: sign-in code, new device, change of address, account deleted, export ready, reply from support, points correction.
Emails you choose
Four boxes, unticked at first: Weekly news (on Fridays), Alerts for my fighters and fights, My prediction results, Partner offers (never bets or odds, your address is never passed on). Nothing is sent without your express consent; every email says who sends it, gives the operator's mailing address and a one-click unsubscribe, honoured within 10 business days at most (CASL in Canada, CAN-SPAM in the United States).
When these terms change
The date at the top of the page changes. If a change affects what you accepted, you are told at your next sign-in, before it applies.
Who runs it, which law
- Operator
- FightAnnex Technologies Inc. (Site operator)
- Governing law
- Québec: the laws of the province and the federal laws of Canada that apply there
- Courts
- Those of the judicial district of Montréal
This choice takes away none of the protection the law where you live gives you. In Quebec, the law keeps your right to go to the court where you live, and the Consumer Protection Act forbids forcing you into arbitration or stopping you from joining a class action: nothing in these terms does. A question, a disagreement: write to us first.
